Initial 5 Day OH&S Course for Health & Safety Representatives (HSR's), Managers & Supervisors

(WorkSafe Approved Course)

                      This WorkSafe Approved course provides the participants with an in depth understanding of the OH&S Act and the management issues which surround the Act. It is taught in “Plain English” without legal jargon and provides opportunity for each participant to actively take part in the training sessions.  Included is the opportunity to participate in a work place audit during the course.

• OH&S Act – In depth examination of the Act and the changes to the Act
• Legislation & The Law
• Hazard Identification & Risk Management Techniques
• Issue Resolution
• Accident/Incident Investigation
• Safety Committees
• The Role of the OH&S Representative

Course Outcomes:

The course will equip participants with a working knowledge of the OH&S Act and the respective roles and responsibilities of the Employer and the OH&S Representative, Manager or Supervisor.

It will provide the skills and abilities to allow the trainee to provide effective input into the management of safety in their own work place.

HSR Entitlements section 67 Vicotian OH&S Act -2004?

HSR Entitlements under Section 67 include:

• Attendance at this initial level training course
• Attendance at an annual 1 Day refresher course ( whilst he/she holds office)
• The employer must allow time off work to attend the training with all normal pay & conditions
• The employer Must pay all costs associated with the training
• If the Employee & the Employer cannot agree on a suitable course then the Authority may be asked to determine a specified course
• Without reasonable excuse the Employer cannot refuse the training
